Here i will explain the difference between making a magnetic photo album, compared to paper scrapping?

There are many answers, but here are the ones that seem most important. In this article, we’ll look at Choice, Risks, Fun and Mess, Health and Safety, and Ease of Sharing.

Choice… The first choice depends on how I want to publish my album:

• print it for display as a traditional paper scrapbook album
• online, as a photo-album, slide show, individual pages, or even a video

Many people print their layouts at 8 x 8 and put them into albums. Of course, if you have a printer that copes with 12 x 12 paper you can print at that size, and present your scrapbook as a traditional 12 x 12 album.

Alternatively, your computer can become your album, if that’s what you want. Then you can easily and cheaply share your album with a much wider audience – relatives and friends who live miles away, even on the other side of the globe – by using the Internet as your distribution medium.

Risks…

But make absolutely sure you back up your files frequently. Otherwise your risk of losing all your handiwork is much higher and likely to happen sooner than your acid and lignin-free paper would have deteriorated. If it happens, it will happen suddenly, in seconds, not gradually over years.

More Fun, and Less mess

• I can now enjoy scrapbooking without spreading paper, card and other assorted items all over the living room!
• They are still there if I want to paper scrap, but I can enjoy a few minutes if I have them spare.
• Digital scrapping needs less space – just enough for my laptop, and I can do it anywhere I can take my laptop.

Health and Safety too…

I’ve never cut my fingers on my keyboard! And I don’t think my hands are as dry as they used to get when handling a lot of paper.

Easy and Quick to Share

I can email a layout or web address to family members and they can see immediately what I’ve made. That wasn’t so easy with paper.

On the other hand, I don’t get so much exercise now that I sit at a computer! Picking up all those paper supplies, embellishments, stamps, glues, cutting mats, etc. was a heavy workout and used to take ages, on top of which I’d walk back and forward dozens of times before I could start scrapping!

Are Paper Scrapbooks Redundant Now?

Of course not. There a few things I miss from paper scrapping:

We still love to look through physical albums. We love to hold, and touch and point while we talk and remember. Despite the risk of paper cuts, I miss the feel of the paper in my hands, but I can go touch my supplies any time!

Some digital scrappers convert their paper layouts to digital. You can photograph or scan them for storage on disk and they become much easier to transport. Or if you don’t have a laptop, you can use one of the online photo galleries.

Another way to store your workmanship is to upload your album files to an online scrapbooking service, or to your own website or blog, if you have one.

So to Summarize Pros for going Digital…

• I love how I can have the impression of depth without the bulk.
• Without doubt the tidiness of it all
• I can do it whenever I have a spare 10 minutes and not worry about leaving things around
• I can do it anywhere I can take my laptop
• I can share my pages and albums quickly and easily
• I can store my creations securely

Some of the products are quite novel too… For example, Lifted Photos by Melissa Renfro gives a curled/lifted look like photos would naturally have after some time.

My Layout Designer, Isabella, who got into digital scrapping a little before me said "I was amazed how quickly I picked it up," she laughed, "and I’m a silver surfer!"

It looks like the convenience and portability of a digital home photo album will win for us overall.

All those years you tried to make your home absolutely perfect. Finally you made your home as you always wanted. And now you would like to take some photos of your home and store them in your magnetic photo album.

Use your digital camera to record these changes and improvements. In the current economic recession, these photos may be of tremendous value, not only as proof of value but also as marketing strategy to prove added value to your home for insurance, aesthetic and potential sale value.

Just as the proverbial "skin-deep" saying, the beauty of your home may be more than just skin deep. Your home photo album can save a lot of time and money on behalf of exterior design or similar professionals who can look at the photo selection and make design recommendations without making a personal visit to your property.

This is of particular value if you have specific problems or features that may require the assistance of a specialist from another community or state. When you take photos of these special features, take several photos from different views. These can be overall views, close-up, front, back, side and even shots of specific details that catch your attention.

While .jpg is the normal photo file extension, these types of photos may require the use of a different type of file extension. Depending upon the ultimate use, various software and photo enhancement processes demand different file extensions to be comparable. Some of these include Photoshop, Google Sketch up and related software programs.

The digital photo RAW format permits certain cameras and digital image enhancement software packages to make basic image changes or enhancements easier and provide a much wider range of photo editing options.

This type of enhancement is beyond the scope of this article but provides some ‘food for thought’ as you develop your great wedding photo album, portfolio or scrapbook.

Wedding is one of the most important events in your life. Everything has to be absolutely perfect. From wedding dress, flower arrangements and all the way to the custom wedding magnetic photo album. 

Here in the UK the 2010 Wedding season is fast approaching. All the wedding fares are being promoted in the hotels up and down the country, the event hosts and service suppliers will be looking to fill the empty slots with the the last minute "Brides and Grooms" that want to do it this year.

I think those "Last minute" Brides and Grooms will have the pick of the crop when it comes to choosing where and when they would like get married. They want informal snaps (or to be posh and glamorise them, they want "Reportage" or "Paparazzi" shots.) Not to take away from the skill of the photographer as I think there is often more skill in getting or creating the reportage style of shots than the traditional ones, but the thing is, the casual shots, just happen any way!, and that’s the whole idea, to capture the event as it unfolds and not to create it, the photographer just has to capture it.

This opens the door for literally Anyone to take wedding photos in this style – and armed with a new digital camera with all the "Anti Shake" "low light" "face detection" scene select" "portrait mode" "people mode" 12mp camera, the person operating the camera can’t really get it wrong! Can they?

Well, if the camera takes care of the settings, and lets face it, the Big camera companies are investing £10,000’s in research and development to ensure the camera get’s great results (so you don’t have to) you can be confident that the photos and fabric covered photo album will be right, all you need to concentrate on is how you take them!… coming next article.

Make your own personal magnetic photo album for your most interesting and precious photographs.

I decided to make mini cloth-covered photo albums for my mother and mother-in-law. These instructions apply to any size photo album–you just have to measure the album to get an idea how much fabric you’re going to need.

Materials:

- 3-ring binder/photo album (doesn’t have to be new–you are going to be covering it)

- Pages for photos (add when album is finished, or you might get glue on them)

- 1 large sheet white poster board

- 1 can spray adhesive (3M works well)

- Craft glue or glue gun

- Scissors and/or rotary fabric cutter

- Fabric –1 piece long enough to cover the outside of the album, and 2 pieces to cover each of inside covers. Allow extra inch to fold over edges of album.

- Silk flowers, appliques, beads, ribbons, lace (optional)

You will need three pieces of fabric. You want the piece on the outside of the album to be one piece that folds around the outside of the album. Leave 1 inch of material around the edges.

For creating a photo album use spray adhesive (available at most craft stores) to glue the fabric. Make sure to lay newspapers all around you and spray carefully or you’ll end up with a big sticky mess. Also try not to let your fabric stick to the newspaper. Spray the glue directly on the outside of the album- -one side first, then the spine, then the other side. Smooth the fabric as you go, gently smoothing out any wrinkles quickly beforeit dries (you have a few minutes). You should now have the outside totally covered with fabric with 1 inch extra all around the edges of the album.

Glue the extra inch of material on the sides down to the inside of the album. Now fold the top and bottom edges down and glue in place. The inside of the spine will still be visible after the inside covers are in place, so fold the extra inch at the spine in half first, then again and glue in place. The remaining exposed top and bottom edges will be covered with the inside covers.

The next step is to make the inside covers. Cut 2 pieces of poster board approximately 1/8-inch smaller (on all sides) than the inside covers of the photo album. Make sure to lay them in the photo album after you cut them to make sure they’re the right size. You want to make sure the album can still open and close easily when they’re in place. Cut 2 pieces of fabric to be 1/2-inch bigger (on allsides) than the pieces of poster board. Using spray adhesive, glue each piece of poster board to a square of fabric.

Fold over the remaining ½ inch of fabric on the top, bottom, and sides, and glue to the back of the poster board. You should now have completed inside covers with no exposed fabric edges. Using spray adhesive, glue the inside covers into the inside front and inside back of the photo album,again making sure the album can open and close easily. You’re done! Now you can add the pages for the photos. Here are some more options:

- If the album is big enough, you can cover a photo mat with fabric and glue it in the center of the front of the album. You can purchase the mat already cut, or you can make your own out of extra poster board, making it any size you want.

- If you want to have lace around the edges, glue the lace around the edges of the album after covering the front of the album with fabric, and before gluing in the inside covers. The inside covers will hide the bottom edge of the trimming. Glue in place with craft glue or a glue gun.

- Embellish the cover with appliques, beads, and silk flowers. Glue in place with craft glue or a glue gun.

After you practice on one of these albums, you’ll see how easy it is and you’ll be able to see all the millions of possibilities. These albums can as fancy or simple as you want, and can cost a lot or next to nothing. I made one for my sister as awedding present that cost about $50 after I bought the nice fabric, appliques, lace, etc.

For Mother’s Day, however, I found some mini photo albums on sale 2 for $3. They hold up to 4 x 6 photos. I’m going to find a photo to cut down a bit to fit on the front cover, one for my family, and one for my husband’s. If I get in a bind for time I will try to find some fabric on sale (should only require approximately ½ yard each for the small albums).

If I have time I’ll do a little yard sale shopping and try to pick up some fabric that way. If you sew or do many crafts, you may already have some fabric on hand. It’s also a good idea to stock up on different sized albums when they’re on sale. Keep on the lookout for extra trimmings on sale and at yard sales. Don’t forget the unconventional, like sequins and buttons. These thoughtful albums make great gifts for all occasions.
