When it comes to photograph sharing online, there are too many options and sites to list.

I’m only going to target Picasa, by Google, and Flickr, by Yahoo.

I am really not endorsing that these sites are good or bad than any other offerings, just that they’re the most commonly used services, that means there are far more methods to use and share your stills. Of the 2 services, Flickr is the most social. By social, I mean that folks often debate and share their stills more often on Flickr vs Picasa. To begin, register for a Yahoo.com account and head over to Flickr.com to start using your account. Picasa three is the best way to add pictures. After you install the program, you may have Picasa mechanically uncover and import all of the stills on your PC. You may also choose the footage you want to upload and order them into albums.

I suggest taking every one of the services for a test. Since both are free, you do not have anything to lose but an hour or so registering and uploading some pictures. For the standard user, I do not see any difference. If you use Yahoo! E-mail , try Flickr. If you use Gmail, give Picasa a try, since in both cases you will not have to form new accounts. If you are a social media guru, or dreamer Flickr is the way to go. The community is far more social, as is the Flickr interface.

If you are a SOHO business or non-profit organization, I need to counsel Picasa as the Flickr Axioms restrict the use of Flickr for commerce purposes. The commercial ban reaches to paid accounts too. At the end of the day, Picasa isn’t quite as social or quite as flashy as Flickr. However to me, functionality always wins. Picasa provides more space for storing, an easy interface, and a pretty handy photograph organizer and editor. Also I am pretty partial to the kPicasa Studio plugin for WordPress. This plugin makes adding your photographs to your blog or page extremely simple. Picasa gets my advice, but please feel at ease to send me any comments or proposals if you don’t agree.
